Maria Cristina Liguori
Maria is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State. Over the last 8 years, she’s worked in multiple clinical settings including residential, outpatient, and private practice.
Maria helps people whose anxiety is a precipitating factor in everyday life. She use research-proven approaches and techniques to help people recognize, acknowledge, and live with the full range of emotions that come by being human while addressing the behaviors that move them away from their values and the person they want to be. She works well with Adults, young adults, college students, and young professionals. Her clients are those who are experiencing anxiety and stress, and struggle with things like self-criticism, high sensitivity (Sensory Processing Sensitivity), and people-pleasing/high achieving behaviors. In addition, she has a passion for working collaboratively on issues like self-esteem, career stress, relationship issues, conflict resolution/problem solving, stress management, and life transitions. Her clients can benefit from learning self-care, self-compassion, acceptance, mindfulness, coaching, and prioritizing needs.
She believes that everyone is capable of change when they're ready. She believes most people develop patterns of behavior learned through childhood or world conditioning. This is great news, because what is learned, can be unlearned, or re-channeled into something healthier. She has personal experience with anxiety and high achieving behaviors. Through her own therapy and self-exploration, she learned how to respond to her anxiety and so that it is not in the driver's seat of her life. There's nothing more that she wants than for people to feel free from the cage anxiety puts them in. She does not discriminate against anyone. She believes laughter and authenticity needs to be present in the therapy room. She believes the therapeutic alliance will be the biggest driving force of change! It's important she’s seen as human, experiencing the same feelings and emotions as everyone else. She welcomes you to reach out to New Day Vitality Psychotherapy to work together.

I practice under the supervision of Colette Lopane-Capella LMHC (#006620-1). Supervision is utilized to develop the counselor's range of clinical interventions in the counseling profession through case review, discussion, and sometimes audio recordings or note review.
